The Ryan Family were among
the Australian wine pioneers of the Broke Fordwich sub-region
of the Hunter Valley wine country when they established the Australian
wine title Broke Estate on Monkey Place Creek in 1987.
Fifty-five acres of Australian
soil are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz,
Semillon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc fruit which are released
under two Australian labels; Broke Estate, a traditional range
of Australian wines designed to mature as Hunter classics, and
Ryan, a more contemporary range of fresh, flavoursome and immediately
drinkable Australian wines.
